Circle the second Saturday of the month on your calendar to learn about art and discover new ways of having fun with your family. The Miami Art Museum offers a variety of programs and activities sure to inspire even the most culturally challenged among us. The monthly drop-in program is free. Live music, storytelling, guided tours, gallery games and dance performances are often part of the fun on these family-oriented afternoons. The program this month, on June 10, is Create-a-Comic. The museum also offers interactive spaces in the Plaza Level and Upper Level galleries with reading materials, videos, writing stations and hands-on activities to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of its collection and exhibitions.

If you're on the fence about bringing your child to an art museum for an afternoon of education and fun, visit the Norton for its Sunday Fundays or First Saturday Family Studios. Your kids will ask to go back again and again. Both programs include art history and studio art, and are great learning experiences for the whole family. In the past few months, the Norton has highlighted traditional art forms from around the world, including Polish paper-cutting, Guatemalan Worry Dolls, and Native American Dream Catchers.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a better place for creative learning experiences than right here. This art-oriented museum especially for children lets them explore different cultures in an exciting environment. They also have their artistic flame sparked by the variety of art activities available throughout the museum. Hands-on, interactive exhibits, both permanent and traveling, inspire a child's desire to explore and learn, create and have fun. This year features the blockbuster traveling exhibition "La Casa de Dora," based on the Nickelodeon darling Dora the Explorer and her friends. Young at Art has added an Early Childhood Day Camp to its summer camp program, as well as a specialized cartooning seminar that will be led by a nationally syndicated cartoonist.
