The 18-day event, with a plethora of rides, games, food and shows and close to 50,000 student and adult exhibits, offers something for the entire family to enjoy. New this year was the Super Sportsfest, an interactive experience for the sports fanatic, including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer and golf. New rides designed with the younger set in mind and new shows, such as the Sea Lion Splash and the Grizzly Falls Bears, indicate that The Fair isn't resting on its laurels. As visitors stroll the streets browsing and purchasing jewelry, crafts and other items, kids clamor for the children's area in Sanborn Square. There, they enjoy bounce houses, face-painting, balloon creations, a giant slide, animal presentations and much more. This year, the festival added a classic auto show to the mix. Of course, festival food is part of the allure and there's plenty of it. Guests won't mind splurging knowing that their money is helping to improve local education. Established in memory and celebration of the life of Jennifer Masi, who died of cancer at age 14, event proceeds have benefited cancer victims and their families for the past 16 years. Far from solemn, the festival grows more fun every year with interactive games, crafts, rides, stage shows and exhibits. This year, a climbing tower was added and Wannado City was part of the fun.
