One of the largest fairs in the nation, "The Fair " has been a South Florida favorite for 55 years. The 18-day event, with a plethora of rides, games, food and shows and close to 50,000 student and adult exhibits, offers something for the entire family to enjoy. New this year was the Super Sportsfest, an interactive experience for the sports fanatic, including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer and golf. New rides designed with the younger set in mind and new shows, such as the Sea Lion Splash and the Grizzly Falls Bears, indicate that The Fair isn't resting on its laurels.

GOLD

Meet Me Downtown
Downtown Boca Raton along Federal Highway from Mizner Boulevard to Palmetto Park Road
Event dates: first week of March
Admission: free
561-395-4434, www.bocaratonchamber.com

This festival is a great way to have fun with the family and raise money for education, since proceeds go to the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce's Golden Bell Education Foundation, which has contributed close to $765,000 to Boca Raton school programs.
As visitors stroll the streets browsing and purchasing jewelry, crafts and other items, kids clamor for the children's area in Sanborn Square. There, they enjoy bounce houses, face-painting, balloon creations, a giant slide, animal presentations and much more. This year, the festival added a classic auto show to the mix. Of course, festival food is part of the allure and there's plenty of it. Guests won't mind splurging knowing that their money is helping to improve local education.
