10) Run for homecoming court. Sure it's not very political, but you still run a campaign and try to get people to vote for you. 9) Vote. Even if you're not 18 to vote legally, you can still vote for those running for student body president. 8) Actually run for student body president. 7) Join your school's SGA. It's called "Student Government Association" for a reason. 6) Advocate for a local or state candidate. 5) Stay in the know about everyday political issues by watching CNN, FOX, or MSNBC. 4) Take AP American Government. It's one of the easiest ways to learn about our democracy. 3) Spread the word. Tell people about upcoming elections and tell them to go out and vote. 2) Interview a local politician. Asking them about their job and why they do it is one of the best ways to get interested in getting involved. 1) Volunteer. Helping a local commissioner running for office is probably one of the most hands-on ways to get involved. Plus, you get volunteer service hours. |
