The Flaming Grill in Sacramento says it serves a burger with lion meat, and recently got a visit from US Fish & Wildlife.

Fernando Silva, the owner's brother, says the meat is a mix of antelope and lion, with the majority of the meat being antelope. This week, Silva tells us officials with US Fish & Wildlife came by to make sure everything was legal.

Silva says officials found everything was in order.

"People started asking, so we just started looking around and that's what happened. We wanted to see if the meat would sell," says Silva.

Jacquie Brown went to the Flaming Grill for dinner Saturday, but says she doesn't like the idea of eating an animal with a dwindling population.

"I didn't know that they served lion here when I came...so when I found out, I was actually horrified because they're just such beautiful, majestic creatures," says Brown.

But if the supplier has the meat and everything is legal, Silva says they might as well buy it and serve it.

There are rules and regulations for this type of thing, but the Flaming Grill says it's not breaking any. The business tells FOX40 it can't serve a burger with all lion meat, and it's supply is not imported from another country.

US Fish & Wildlife did not return our calls seeking additional information and comment.

Joseph Adams: I dont think one animal should be more important than another. Many cultures eat so called "exotic animals". Its good to try new things.

Jason Carver: So.. paying for lions meat means its okay to kill innocent animals for our dinner? Buying lions meat is like saying its okay to hurt our wildlife.

Sofia Herrera: If I was starving and that was the only meat to eat I definately would eat it, but for now I'll stick with cow and chicken =)
