'Yellow Boat' teaches meaning of humanity, love, loss
A Scandinavian folksong tells the story of three little boats: "One was blue, one was red, and one was yellow. The blue one returned to the harbor, the red one sailed home too, the yellow one flew up to the sun." This mantra sets mood for the play "The Yellow Boat" by David Saar performed by South Plantation High School last weekend. Through the eyes of the playwright's young son we see the raw, untainted meaning of humanity, love, and loss.

This past Saturday evening, South Plantation High School set out on a mission. This mission was to breathe life into a play about a young boy's perspective of suffering from AIDS. South Plantation High School's heartwarming production of, The Yellow Boat, truly conveyed a story of hardship and love which left the audience emotionally vulnerable and attached.

As the audience entered the auditorium of South Plantation High, their eyes were forced to readjust as they gazed upon the array of vivid colors splashed amidst the stage. Mammoth crayons, monstrous Lego's, and larger-than-life toy boxes brought the playful world of Benjamin Saar, an ill-fated eight year old, to life. This captivating playground of storytelling set the stage for the inspiring tale of The Yellow Boat.
