As the house lights fade into darkness, the silhouette of a fiddler appears behind the backdrop. It is a large projection, possibly to symbolize that the fiddler is standing on a high level, a roof maybe? "Sounds crazy, no?" But to the people of Anatevka, a fiddler on the roof embodies one of their many "Traditions!" That is where David Posnack Hebrew Day School's production of Fiddler on the Roof begins.

A lone violinist unleashes a jovial serenade as the sun rises on a weary man struggling to drag his cumbersome wagon home from the market.Suddenly, the scene bursts into life as the rest of the village awakens to complete their daily routines laced with enthusiastic Jewish custom. David Posnak Hebrew School's production of the Tony award winning "Fiddler on the Roof" invites the audience into a colorful town rich in unity through faith.

Based on short stories entitled "Tevye and his Daughters," this musical dives into the challenge of living a free life while maintaining family traditions.
