The trailer was more than intriguing.

Promising suspense, action and deadly mystery, A Perfect Getaway looked like a set-up for failure: an overburdened plot that was captured much better in its two-minute trailer than could possibly play out in its full 98 minutes.

However, Rogue Pictures delivers on all of its promises for A Perfect Getaway. One of the few movies that truly live up to everything they are made out to be in their trailers, A Perfect Getaway is a fast-paced thriller mystery that will keep your heart pounding and your suspicions racing until the last kill.

Three couples set out to brave a long, isolated, beautiful trail to the beach. One couple is on their honeymoon, another on a special trip on which the man plans to propose, and the last just a pair of sun-kissed locals wandering through the islands.

When they hear of the murder of another couple, just a few days earlier, on a neighboring island, they decide against reason to continue their trek.

Despite reports that the killer couple has hopped over to the island they are currently on, they decide to trust each other and stick together.

Eerily enough, all three couples slightly resemble the blurry photo of the suspected killers that was released by the Hawaiian police.

The further they go along the trail, the further they are from anyone who could help them.

Tension builds as each couple reveals themselves to be crazier as they travel along. The audience is kept in suspense as to who the real killers are, even when one of the couples is suddenly arrested halfway through the hike.

Though set against the breathtaking backdrop of a remote Hawaiian island, A Perfect Getaway is not for the squeamish.

Gore reminiscent of the Saw series is shown repeatedly. An adult goat is murdered messily, slit open by hand and dissected for dinner.

Knifes, guns and pickaxes fly frequently -- often at body parts. Visible holes are made in the actors and their blood runs freely.

If blood isn't something you can handle, then not even the many shots of untroubled Hawaiian paradise may be able to get you through the violence that hardly seems to stop.

Yet for all of its blood and gore, A Perfect Getaway is neither tacky nor cheesy, and its fight scenes are original.

For true action lovers, this movie might fall short of Hollywood's superhero movie chain. There are no buildings to blow up or sleek cars to race against a ticking bomb.

Instead, the action is almost caveman-esque, featuring camping and hunting tools and furious fists and feet, though no advanced martial arts play a part.

The most thrilling part of A Perfect Getaway is its all-too-believable plot. The twists and turns in the storyline mesh together seamlessly.

The typical "whodunit" mystery is turned on its head, and the result is both captivating and surprising.

A Perfect Getaway is not a movie to be missed. It truly outshines even its intriguing trailer.
