Green' student grants by Planet Earth

Planet Connect, a newly designed program by Classroom Earth, is opening a contest for those avid student leaders who are passionate about preserving our environement.

Donate for a cause
To raise money for awareness of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a rare genetic disorder that can result in joint hypermobility and easily bruised and torn skin), empty ink cartridges and used cell phones can be dropped off at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High front office. Douglas is at 5901 Pine Island Road in Parkland.

Free Driver's Ed
Broward County is offering free driver's education classes to all public and private high school students ages 15 to 19. The course meets on Saturdays at four different times in two-hour intervals. The course provides students with behind-the-wheel driving, the four-hour drug and alcohol class required to receive a permit and DMV testing. Drivers ed is offered at Boyd Anderson, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Cypress Bay, Deerfield Beach, Dillard, Everglades, Flanagan, Hallandale, Plantation and Taravella. In January, it will also be offered at West Broward. Registration for the next session, Oct. 25-Dec. 15, is now open. To register, public school students must visit Virtual Counselor and private school students must call 954-587-7693.
