Two Broward juniors have been selected to compete for a spot in the Walmart First Tee Open, a golfing competition that tests a player’s skill and merit.

Carly Goldstein will compete for the chance to play in the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in Rye, N.H., in August.

Tucker Burks, a resident of Parkland, will compete for a spot in the First Tee Open in August in Rogers, Ark.

The competition focuses on both golf and life skills learned through the First Tee program. Students must demonstrate this on the golf course, in personal interviews and in a personal essay.

From the two selection events, 72 juniors will be chosen to play in the sixth annual Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. The event and Champions Tour tournament take place Aug. 31 through Sept. 6 will be televised on the Golf Channel.
