Five Broward County students head to Washington D.C. this month to participate in the Bank of America Charitable Foundation's weeklong Student Leadership Summit. Joining over 200 juniors and seniors from across the country, they will spend a week in the nation’s capitol.

The summit will include workshops, activities and tours meant to illustrate the effect of non-profit work and the need for community leadership.

Travis Baten, senior at Ft. Lauderdale High, Mitzi Ip Lam, senior at Miramar High, Richard Neunie, recent graduate of South Broward High and Fania Desinord, senior at Boyd H. Anderson High, will return from the intensive five-day summit to work with the local community.

Each will spend eight weeks interning at different Broward County YMCA locations.
