Inglorious? Try Glorious!

Lights! Camera! Handlung!

That means "action" in German, which suits the film Inglorious Basterds well.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, it features Brad Pitt, Melanie Laurent, Mike Myers and B.J. Novak, who plays Ryan in The Office.

The film takes place during World War II in Nazi-occupied France.

It revolves around two stories: a run-away Jewish girl getting revenge for her family, and an American lieutenant leading a small army made up of mostly Jewish-Americans and looking to find a way to take down the leaders of The Third Reich.

Because of the many different things going on, it looks like Tarantino felt the need to tell the story in chapters, as if it were a book.

When the audience saw Ch.1 pop up on the screen, the theatre filled with giggles and chuckles that soon turned into laughter.

Although events in the film are strictly fiction, most of it seems realistic. Throughout the film, characters speak German or French, and even some Italian.

It was hard to keep up with the subtitles, and boring, but it did add "flavor" to the movie.

Something else Tarantino adds, making the film more realistic, which I liked, is that he shows everything. He shows the shootings and the scalpings. Most motion pictures skip over the gruesome parts, but they lose the realistic touch. By showing it all, Inglorious Basterds becomes that much better.

Along with gross parts that make you squirm, the film has scenes where you might laugh so hard you'll pee your pants. Every scene with Brad Pitt and his army, The Basterds, is hilarious.

Pitt plays the epitome of the American stereotype in the 1940s: always cracking jokes and saying dumb things in a heavy country accent and only wanting to kick butt.

The only negative for the film is that certain scenes are too long and show unnecessary footage. Some of it is funny, but it isn't necessary.

Still, Inglorious Basterds earns the highest marks. It is definitely a must-see.
