Broward Meals on Wheels Shopping Volunteers
Broward Meals on Wheels provides quality services to ensure that seniors meet their nutritional needs and remain healthy and independent. Our Volunteer Grocery Shopping Service provides homebound seniors with a dependable and helpful friend who will go grocery shopping on their behalf. Volunteers typically shop once a week or once every other week depending upon the senior's needs. Schedules are flexible. Ideal for students (the parents just need to drive). Dine with the Disabled and Make a Friend
11:15 am - 2:30 pm, 2 hours per day scheduled, 3879 West Industrial Way, Riviera Beach. Volunteer as a lunch companion to developmentally challenged adults. Shutter Assistance for the Elderly (SAFE)
Anytime. Volunteers needed to help senior citizens put up shutters prior to a storm. Volunteers must be able to lift the weight of the shutters, use tools properly, and also commit to the removal of the shutters once a dwelling is deemed safe and 18 or older. Teens Connect

After School House
South Miami. Volunteers spend one hour per week with one child and help with homework, playing games, reading, listening, teaching new skills, and becoming a trusted role model. Two, one-hour session are held every school day. From 2:30-3:30 p.m., first to third graders come in, then from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and 4:30-5:30 the middle school kids come in. Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University

The mission of this agency is to reduce the pain and suffering of individuals and families in poverty by providing necessary food, ancillary services and referrals.
