Palm Beach high school results and schedules STAFF REPORTS Posted November 5 2009
The Pahokee football team received more discouraging news Wednesday when the Florida High School Athletic Association stripped the Blue Devils of another district win, placing the three-time defending Class 2B state champions in a must-win situation Friday to keep alive their bid for a fourth consecutive state title. Pahokee has self-reported an infraction of FHSAA rules regarding academic eligibility of an unnamed player who dressed and participated in the Blue Devils' wins against District 7-2B opponents Inlet Grove on Sept. 11 and Cardinal Newman on Sept. 25. The school has forfeited both of those wins, dropping its previously unbeaten district record to 3-2. Should Pahokee defeat University School on Friday, the Blue Devils will claim a playoff berth either as district champion or runner-up, pending the outcome of North Broward Prep's game against Coral Springs Charter. If University wins at home, Pahokee will be eliminated. Pahokee, which is 7-1, has won state titles in five of the past six years and attained national attention for its success. Several players are Division I prospects. The Blue Devils' only loss on the field this season was on Sept. 18 against Dwyer.
