Scientific OlympiansPine Crest School dominated the competition when 10 high schools from Miami-Dade and Broward counties competed in Barry University's Seventh Annual Science Olympiad in early April.The day-long competition had students in teams of six compete in a written exam, an oral competition (similar to a quiz bowl or Jeopardy) and a lab competition. Although it did not win the competition overall, Pine Crest placed in the top three for every competition, and the school's students rocked the individual awards. Emmanuelle Genoyer won first place, receiving a $1,000 scholarship and a Traveler GPS. Ryan Pyle won second and received an iPod Nano and a backpack. Sophia Roberts, Alexander Waldman, Robert Sami and David Manella won fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively. picking up good vibrationsA new teen book called Click!, the girl version of The Secret, has just launched its first contest allowing readers to send in their success stories. Send in your personal unpublished story that has resulted in better vibes due to positive thinking. Each month, one picked entry will be featured on the Click! blog. In October 2008, the selected winner will win a new computer. Your story must be 300 words or less. Paste it in an e-mail and send it to clickquestions @mac.com.
