The Parkway Academy girls' basketball team continued its' dominant play with a decisive 69-32 victory over Gulliver Prep in the Class 3A regional semifinal at Hollywood Hills High on Tuesday.

Parkway travels to American Heritage for the regional final Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Panthers (28-1) jumped all over Gulliver Prep from the onset, hitting 10 of 15 shots in the first quarter to open a 23-10 lead.

Despite an offensive attack that featured an array of crossovers and back-door cuts, it was the Panthers' solid defense that made the difference. Parkway forced numerous turnovers and did not allow Gulliver Prep to find any offensive rhythm as it held the Raiders (21-5) to their lowest point total of the season.

Senior Chelsey Lee dominated the glass to finish with 12 rebounds and nine points.

Junior guard Bianca Thornton broke her own school record with six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points.

"Her [Thornton's] passion keeps us all going," said Panthers coach Adam Hopkins. "We are emotionally ready to play, and we're confident we can play with anybody no matter who the opponent is."

After falling two points shy of a state title last season, the Panthers have returned this season with an even stronger lineup determined to bring home a state championship.

"We've come this far together, and we expect to win it all this time," said junior guard Erica Wheeler, who finished with 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds.
