FSU starters Christian Jones and Eddie Goldman have been suspended for Saturday's game against Bethune-Cookman due to an undisclosed violation of team rules.
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Jones, a linebacker, and Goldman, a defensive end, will be held out of the contest.
“Those guys will not be playing this week for us,” Fisher said. “It is [disappointing.] I’ll correct it, but we all have to abide by certain guidelines. . . . They’ll be back and ready to go on Monday.”
Terrance Smith will replace Jones, FSU’s second-leading tackler, in the starting lineup. Senior Demonte McAllister will fill in for Goldman, a sophomore. This will be Smith’s first career start.
Fisher said that senior reserve tackle Jacobbi McDaniel will also see an increased role in the defensive rotation with Goldman out of the lineup.
Defensive end Mario Edwards (hand) and offensive lineman Wilson Bell (knee) are out this weekend. Bell will likely be out 4-6 weeks with his injury. Defensive tackle Derrick Mitchell Jr. (knee) is questionable.
Kickoff for FSU's game against Bethune-Cookman is Saturday at 6 p.m.
