Plantation defensive back Sojourn Shelton finally announced what he had hinted at for weeks, as the Sun Sentinel Super 11 senior committed to the University of Wisconsin in a tweet Tuesday night.

The announcement was simple. At 8:30, Shelton changed his name on his twitter profile to Badger Boy and tweeted "Committed To The University Of Wisconsin #OnWisconsin".

Shelton told the Sun Sentinel last month that he would commit to Wisconsin in the near future, but that he wanted to take a bit more time before finalizing the decision. Shelton committed to Florida State before his junior season, only to decommit from the Seminoles this past summer.

The five-foot-nine prospect made his official visit to Madison for the Badger's Sept. 1 game. Shelton said he felt like committing on the spot, but opted to wait until he had taken more official visits. Those visits never came.

"It was the right time," Shelton said in a text message Tuesday night. "[Wisconsin] feels like home. I'm ready to end the recruiting and focus on the rest of the season and school."

Shelton was one of 100 high school players selected to participate in the Nike super combine The Opening in Beaverton, Oregon this summer. He was formally invited to play in the 2013 Under Armour All-America game.
