Art Wynwood will bring its white-tented extravagance Feb. 16-19 to One Herald Plaza (site of the former Miami Herald building) in downtown Miami.
Some 70 local and international galleries will appear for the fair’s seventh edition, including Ascaso Gallery and Avant Gallery in Miami, Contessa Gallery in Palm Beach and Gallery 2014 in Hollywood. They’ll feature works by 180 artists, including Carlos Cruz-Diez, Salvador Dali, Ron English, Marcel Duchamp, David Hockney, Jeff Koons and Edouard Manet.
Other diversions worth your attention: New York artist Logan Hicks, who creates photorealistic murals using multiple layers of stencils and spray paint, will collect a Tony Goldman Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award. The Institute of Contemporary Art, North Miami, will display a handful of works, while Harlem-based muralist JonOne will offer a painting demonstration. There will also be “RAWK,” an exhibit from Jupiter Island resident Jason Newsted, the Grammy-winning former bassist for Metallica (1986-2001), selling his collection of loose, lyrical paintings that celebrate the spontaneity of music.
