Meet the makers of your favorite romance novels at the third annual Wicked Book Weekend.
The three-day, guilty-pleasure of an event, featuring more than 50 popular romance authors at the Bahia Mar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, will be a girls' weekend unlike any other.
Unlike typical book signings, the March 7-9 event is more of a social meet-and-greet, with fans getting to ask authors, including Jasinda Wilder and Tara Sivec, how they came up with the juicy details for their steamy novels, said organizer Ana Ivies, who runs the adult romance blog, Ana's Attic, and created Wicked Book Weekend. You must be 18 and older to attend.
"It's a much more intimate book signing," said Ivies, of Coral Springs. "You get to have lunch with the authors one-on-one."
The weekend starts with a water taxi ride with the authors, set for 8 p.m. March 7; ticket costs $19. The main event is 11:30 a.m. March 8, with prices starting at $5 for just the one-hour book signing. Fans staying at the hotel can attend the signing an hour early, and will be first in line to meet the authors. There also will be prizes including signed books and Amazon giftcards, as well as a charity raffle with proceeds going to the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund.
On March 9, fans staying at the hotel can relax by the pool, head to the beach, or shop at Las Olas, along with some of the authors.
Reader Joanne Christenson, 44, will be traveling from Tampa to attend the event for the third year in a row. She is looking forward to chatting with her favorite authors, including Sivec and S. Walden.
"This is the best [book] event I've ever been to, and I've been to over 50," Christenson said.
