In Cheryl Maeder's short movie "Play," toddlers clamber over a stack of buttered Belgian waffles and a cherry-topped grapefruit sliced in half. The West Palm Beach photographer found both oversize foods, which are plastic, at a breakfast-themed playground in a shopping mall. The resulting 90-second short, filmed with a bird's-eye perspective and a soundtrack featuring Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" suite, is featured alongside works from 61 other artists in the new "Cultural Council Biennial 2015" at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. Starting this week, visitors can nominate their favorite works for the show's People's Choice Award, to be announced in mid August. The Best of Show, second- and third-place winners were chosen by juror Elizabeth Sobieski, a producer and contributing writer to the Art Economist, New York Magazine and Huffington Post.
