This week on South Florida stages: 'Jersey Boys,' 'Magique' and gay-guy tips

Here is what’s happening in South Florida theaters this week.

KEVIN AND CARUSO’S MAGIQUE

Staged with a theatric sensibility (Broadway dancers, flashy costumes, multimedia backgrounds, special effects), this family-friendly illusion show blends magic with comedy. There’s also a special guest: Madame Houdini.

Where: Faena Theater, 3201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.

Cost: $45-$100

SEX TIPS FOR STRAIGHT WOMEN FROM A GAY MAN

From the page to the stage, this touring production came from a popular book of the same name. And just like the title suggests, the interactive show is a ribald rip through taboo topics and some blush-worthy advice perfect for a bachelorette party.

When: Through April 9; 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturdays; 1 and 6 p.m. Sundays

Where: Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale

Cost: $45

Contact: 954-462-0222 or BrowardCenter.org

DRY POWDER

Equal parts drama and comedy, this play — which starred Claire Danes, Hank Azaria and John Krasinski off-Broadway last spring — is about what really goes on at a private-equity firm hellbent on draining millions from struggling companies. Along the way, “Dry Powder” touches on the end of American manufacturing and income inequality.

When: Through April 23; 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays

Where: GableStage at the Biltmore, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables (eastern section of the Biltmore Hotel)

Cost: $45 ($42 for seniors, $15 for students)

Contact: (305) 445-1119 or GableStage.org

THE CARETAKER

Miami’s Zoetic Stage presents Harold Pinter’s play about two brothers who have a strange, uneasy relationship and the homeless man they take in as a caretaker.
