Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida: The 15th season will officially open with a contemporary program that includes the modern piece “Danzon” by choreographer Yanis Pikieris. Also on the program will be “Four Seasons” with music by Verdi (not Vivaldi) and dance created by Maestro Vladimir Issaev, who choreographed “Fuga con Pajarillo,” which will conclude the program using music by the famed Venezuelan composer Aldemaro Romero. Performances are Oct. 6-7 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and Oct. 13-14 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble: It’s all about diversity, with a heady mix of emerging and established artists, classically trained multi generational dancers and a wide array of genres presented in solos, duets and dance for the camera at Florida Atlantic University’s Boca RatonCampus Feb. 1-3.
The Pilobolus Company: A little over 40 years after its inception, this contemporary dance company and its signature anthropomorphic movement is still going strong. They perform at Parker Playhouse. March 23, 2013.
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo: If men in ballet drag doing a campy take on the classics is your idea of an evening’s entertainment, this is your show. The company will be at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts May 2, 2013.
The Harid Conservatory: The spring performances showcase an entertaining selection of classical and contemporary ballets featuring Harid’s 2013 graduating class. The performance will be staged at the Countess de Hoernle Theater in Boca Raton May 24-26, 2013.
