We Got The Beats record store is throwing a listening party Thursday, July 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Oakland Park for late great disco star Sylvester and the compilation album “Mighty Real: Greatest Dance Hits,” due out June 25th.
For the uninitiated, Sylvester was an openly gay star from his heyday in the 70s until his death in 1988, working it like no one else with a fabulous falsetto soaring above dance music beats. His backup singers were two full-figured gals names Two Tons of Fun. You may know them as The Weather Girls (and their gay club classic "It's Raining Men," co-written by Paul Shaffer of "Late Show with David Letterman" fame).
The party is free and open to the public.
We Got The Beats is at 2900 N. Dixie Highway, Suite 201 (The Trestle Building).
