As the 17th edition of ArtPalmBeach unfolds at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Thursday, so, too, will Art Synergy, a brand-new lineup of contemporary art fairs spanning Boynton Beach to West Palm Beach.
If Art Synergy invites comparisons to the arty pop-up fairs flanking Art Basel Miami Beach every year, co-founder Craig McInnis says that is not accidental. The organizers behind ArtPalmBeach, running through Sunday, were receptive to McInnis' idea of promoting local galleries and uniting Palm Beach County's art districts.
"We have this international art fair in town, why don't we tag along? We just knew these were some big, wide, beautiful coattails to ride on," says McInnis, an independent artist living in West Palm Beach. "I'd call our relationship very amicable. Everyone is open-minded to share resources."
The half-dozen new art fairs, created through sponsorships by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, include the pop-up gallery Continuum (312 Clematis St., West Palm Beach), closing Sunday and featuring works from 20 Palm Beach artists and performances from the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.
Other fairs include the Gallery Walk on Worth in Lake Worth (5-7 p.m. Friday); the Northwood Village ArtX in West Palm Beach (6-10 p.m. Saturday); Art al'Fresco in the Boynton Beach Art District (6 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday); the Antique Row Art Walk in West Palm Beach (Friday-Monday); and Lula's Art Pop in Lake Worth (noon-7 p.m. Sunday).
