With that provocative title, you’d be forgiven for thinking this comedy-with-a-feminist-edge was something else. No, this isn’t about a bartender with boundary issues. And no, this isn’t the stage version of Tom Cruise’s 1988 movie “Cocktail.”
Making its Miami debut, the fast-paced farce “Cocktales: Confessions of a Nymphomaniac” follows Eve from her very own Garden of Eden to the TV talk show of Dr. Truth, a sort of Dr. Ruth-like character.
Eve wants help with her nymphomania so Dr. Truth begins treatment right there, right then triggering a series of flashbacks, game shows, dancing hunks, tranny virgin videos and the appearance of a giant vagina puppet.
Directed locally by David Michael Sirois and staged at Bardot nightclub in Miami’s Wynnwood Design and Art District, “Cocktales” was developed at New York City’s “the cell” (they prefer lower-case), a Chelsea neighborhood collective for artists to incubate their work.
