This weekend, South Florida has terpsichorean talent from West Palm Beach down to Miami. Here is a what you need to know about the dance performances being staged from Friday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 23 ... and beyond.
Miami City Ballet starts its 2016-17 season with one of the most well-known romantic ballets. "Giselle" tells the story of peasant girl who goes mad by a lover's betrayal, only to save him from death later on. Miami City Ballet will perform "Giselle" in all three counties. At Friday's opening night, there will be an open-air reception for ticket holders starting at 6:30 p.m. on the Thompson Plaza at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

The Demetrius Klein Dance Company's new work "7x7" was specifically choreographed for all the nooks and crannies of West Palm Beach's Memorial Presbyterian Church. The piece features work from seven choreographers' seven dances in seven spaces, each lasting seven minutes. The audience will move throughout the church during the show.

"2016 Daniel Lewis Miami Dance Sampler"
Dance fans can get a sneak peek of the upcoming season with this group performance spotlighting 9 local companies including: Karen Peterson and Dancers, Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, Pioneer Winter Collective, Sandra Portal-Andreu, Arts Ballet Theatre, Dance Now! Miami, NWSA Dance Ensemble, Fuentes Stephanie Dance Project and Atma Yoga Dance Company.

This multimedia musical production features dancers and musicians under the direction of Argentinean singer and producer Humberto Fortuna. The tangos are sung in Spanish and translated into English.

"A Princely Affair"
The Boca Ballet Theatre Guild's 25th annual fundraising luncheon and performance will feature Erica Pereira, soloist with the New York City Ballet. Pereira will be partnered with Daniel Ulbricht, a frequent guest artist with the Boca Ballet Theatre and a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.
