This week on South Florida stages: Walkin' after midnight

This is what’s happening in the theater scene this week.

SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE – THE SONGS OF LEIBER AND STOLLER

The songwriting team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote some of popular music’s most enduring hits, including “Spanish Harlem,” “I (Who Have Nothing),” “Stand by Me,” “There Goes My Baby,” Jailhouse Rock” and “Yakety Yak,” crossing over many genres in the 60 years they worked together. Now, Stage Door Theatre is producing the revue of their songbook that was a long-running Broadway hit in 1995.

MELISSA MANCHESTER

The singer-songwriter will perform her hits (“Don’t Cry Out Loud,” “Through the Eyes of Love”) and holiday classics.

FINDING NEVERLAND

As with the 2004 movie version, which stars Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, the stage musical “Finding Neverland” is about how playwright J.M. Barrie found inspiration to create a new play titled “Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Never Grew Up” in a platonic relationship with a widow and her four rambunctious sons. This road tour will also play Jan. 2-7 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.

TOO JEWISH?

Avi Hoffman is best known for playing lawyer Sid Raskin in the Starz series "Magic City" and for being a regular on NBC's "Law & Order" and A&E's "The Glades." He is bringing his one-man show about his journey through his Jewish roots and some of the traditions and history of Yiddish culture to Palm Beach Gardens. The mix of songs that make much of vaudevillian shtick and Catskills comedy premiered 23 years ago off-Broadway and has blossomed into a franchise, with two sequels, “Too Jewish, Two” and “Still Jewish,” both of which were broadcast nationally on PBS.

A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO COUNTRY ROYALTY: HANK WILLIAMS AND PATSY CLINE

Jason Petty and Katie Deal evoke two of country music’s most influential superstars in this revue, which includes 20 of their hit songs performed live.
