Miss Universe is getting her own fragrance from an Aventura scent-maker.
Neil J. Katz has signed a deal with Donald Trump's pageant franchise to create a line of branded fragrances inspired by Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.
"For us in the fragrance business, aspiration is the key thing," says Katz from Las Vegas. "And [these pageants] talk to the aspirations of so many young women. They have an audience of something like 90 countries."
Katz - who worked in marketing for Revlon and Liz Claiborne before elevating Fort Lauderdale-based Parlux Fragrances into a celebrity-filled powerhouse - says the initial launch is planned for back-to-school.
As ceo and chairman of Parlux, Katz brought a stable of stars into the fold including: Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah, Kanye West, Nicole Miller, Josie Natori, Marc Ecko, Vince Camuto and Fred Hayman Beverly Hills.
After leaving Parlux, Katz says he's "been just doing consulting for the last three years. he started Omni Scents with fellow industry veteran Lucien Lallouz "in late November, early December of this year."
