What you need to know: Aside from the success of Vitolio Jeune on "So You Think You Can Dance," the Haiti-based dance company has had a difficult time of it since the 2010 earthquake. But with the support of Adrienne Arsht Center president M. John Richard, it is rebuilding. This performance will include the world premiere of a new work, "Lamentation 13," created by the troupe's artistic director, Jeanguy Saintus, who described it as an "autobiographical work of my last 13 years, feeling in the beginning like you are starting with a thousand people and ending up by yourself struggling and fighting. In my country, dance is not important right now."
When and where: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami
Tickets: $35 at 305-949-6722 or ArshtCenter.org

Rod Hagwood: I could have sworn I was interviewing for "fashionable" editor back in 1990 when I applied for this job. I imagined I was just going to sashay around the newsroom wearing an array of fabulous designer ensembles. Imagine my disappointment when I found out my bosses wanted me to actually work...instead of working it.
