If you like your ballroom dancing without all the rehearsal hall melodrama of "Dancing with the Stars" or the youthquake pneumatic girations of "So You Think You Can Dance"...then you've gotta go local.
Sunday the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Fort Lauderdale presented "From Movies To Motion," a program pairing mambos, tangos, cha-chas, waltzes, jives, etc. with music from film at Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty Six.
Me? I just love ANYTHING with sequins and bugle beads...and ballroom dancing has enough sparkle to be seen from outer space.
Rod Hagwood: I could have sworn I was interviewing for "fashionable" editor back in 1990 when I applied for this job. I imagined I was just going to sashay around the newsroom wearing an array of fabulous designer ensembles. Imagine my disappointment when I found out my bosses wanted me to actually work...instead of working it.
