1. BUDGET FRIENDLY
Admission is $10 for adults and $1 for children under the age of 11, but you can find discounts and coupons (not to mention the hours and other details) at HomeShowSpecials.com.
2. SOFLO STYLE
Local interior designers will have their work spotlighted in the "Designer Room Vignettes" featuring Pembroke Pines' Tamara Roth of Kreative Makeovers; Galt Ocean Mile's Roberto Sanchez Interiors and Miami's Suzanne Lawson Design.
3. CHALK PAINT DEBUT
Early buzz is about a new product getting a sneak peek at a user-friendly decorative paint from the U.K. called Chalk Paint that eliminates the need for both priming and sanding. "It's got a bonding agent in it," explains Jeanne Hall, owner of TLC Design Studio in Oakland Park who will be demonstating the paint that can resemble the effects of limewash as well as a French or Modern finish. "It was developed by Annie Sloan 20 years ago and it's been coming to the U.S. for the last two years." For more information, visit AnnieSloan.com.
4. MICHAELS MASTERCLASS
There will be a hands-on seminar called "Holiday Design ideas by Michaels" led by the arts and crafts store's local floral designer Murray Caciamani who has 35 years of interior decorating experience. The demonstration will focus on winter-themed home accessorizing; Christmas wreath-making and Hanukkah decorating. The workshops are Friday, Nov. 16 at 2 and 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17 at noon.
