Rare are fashion events for men.
Even rarer are style events that mashup fashionistas with foodies.
But that is exactly what is happening at "Sip, Savor and Style" - a fundraiser featuring style from made-to-measure brand J. Hilburn and lite-bite samples from artisanal kitchen/shop The Heart of the Gourmet.
The spring/summer lookbook launch party is from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 and is free and open to the public (although you should RSVP by emailing email@example.com).
The party takes place at The Heart of the Gourmet, 816 North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.
"I just went in there one day shopping and he [Kevin Roth, owner] and I started talking," explains Leeza Hanson, style consultant for J. Hilburn in South Florida. "And I told him I envisioned and event where men came in here and were looking at my samples and sampling his food."
"We do a lot of fundraising events and we do a lot of tasting events," said Kevin Roth, founder of The Heart of the Gourmet. "I'm always open to all kinds of ideas and [J. Hilburn] does beautiful work...it's artistic."
Roth opened The Heart of the Gourmet in 2012, originally calling The Heart of the Olive. He is also a concert dulcimer player (Smithsonian Folkways label) and the author of children's books ("Tales of Wabby").
Launched in 2007, the Dallas-based J. Hilburn is a custom direct-to-customer company where style consultants visit men in their offices and homes to get measurements and show them swaths of fabric and help them select options.
