"Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class" comes to Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Thursday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 10 (Mark Graham / February 5, 2013) |
The “Nunsense” musical comedy franchise is…um…resurrected with “Sister Robert Anne’s Cabaret Class,” a one-nun tour de force starring Christine Mild as the teacher with a colorful back story: a Brooklyn-born former child delinquent.
In between songs such as “What Would Elvis Do?” and “We Miss You, Patsy Cline” the Sister instructs her class – the audience – on how to put a show business act together.
Over the past 25 years of "Nunsense" productions and sequels, Sister Robert Anne has become a star in her own right (Mild recently appeared in the role on the national tour of "Nunset Boulevard" with Cindy Williams). Now she stars in a show of her own filled with the usual Nunsense humor.
Performances are:
Thursday, February 7 at 8 p.m.
Friday, February 8 at 8 p.m.
Saturday, February 9 at 2 and 8 p.m.
Sunday, February 10 at 2 p.m.
The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is located at 3385 N.E. 188 Street in Aventura. Tickets are $36.50. To order, call 877-311-7469 or visit AventuraCenter.org.
Rod Hagwood: I could have sworn I was interviewing for "fashionable" editor back in 1990 when I applied for this job. I imagined I was just going to sashay around the newsroom wearing an array of fabulous designer ensembles. Imagine my disappointment when I found out my bosses wanted me to actually work...instead of working it.
