George O'Leary was only half-kidding when he riled up a group of older UCF football fans with his thoughts on making beer available to the masses at Bright House Networks Stadium.
"I don't know why we don't sell beer in the stadium when we let them get ossified a block away," O'Leary said during a Hometown Huddle pep rally in May ironically located just feet away from the football team's offices named after beer and alcohol distributor Wayne Densch.
The fans' response — raucous applause and cheering – signaled some level of agreement. After all, beer and football has been about as American as baseball and apple pie.
