The Native Americans who once ruled this land did not travel it by car, motorboat, airboat or RV. They traveled it by canoe.
Novice canoers can rent canoes at either Flamingo Marina or the Gulf Coast Visitor's Center at Everglades City.

From Flamingo:
Nine-Mile Loop (5.2 miles)
Noble Hammock Trail (2 miles)
Hells Bay Trail (3 miles)
Bear Lake Canal (1.6 miles)
Mud Lake Loop (6.8 miles)
West Lake Trail (7.7 miles)
Florida Bay
From Everglades City:
Sandfly Island (2.5 hours)
Turner River (5 hours)
Halfway Creek and Turner River Loop (4 hours)
