TV show 'Unusual Suspects' to feature Broward acid attack murder

The "Unusual Suspects" true crime show Sunday will feature the disturbing acid attack in a Sea Ranch Lakes parking lot that killed the manager of a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea resort.

The show airs at 9 p.m. Sunday on the Investigation Discovery cable channel.

Three Broward County men are serving state prison terms for the murder of Leonard "Rudi" Houda, 63, in July 2000.

Houda was doused with acid outside the Publix in Sea Ranch Lakes. He suffered severe burns and died several days later. He was targeted by the president of the neighboring condo association because of a long-standing dispute between the two over a 10-foot piece of oceanfront land.

The former condo president, Walter Dendy, now 77, is serving life in prison for planning the fatal attack. Neal Bross, now 58, who was hired to throw the acid from a cooler, is scheduled for release later this year. A third man, Emilio Charafardin, now 60, who drove the getaway vehicle, is serving a 25-year prison term.
