Ariana Grande adds second Miami concert

Multiplatinum-selling Boca Raton native Ariana Grande has added a second Miami concert to her Sweetener World Tour stop at AmericanAirlines Arena, with a June 1 performance now following the originally scheduled show on May 31.

Tickets for the new concert will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000. A presale for American Express cardholders will run from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 10 p.m. Thursday.

Tickets to the May 31 performance, priced at $45-$245+, are sold out.

Miami was one of several major cities to get an added Ariana Grande concert “due to overwhelming demand,” according to tour promoter Live Nation. Other cities with new shows include New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The Sweetener World Tour kicks off March 18 in Albany, N.Y., and will cross North America through June 26, with a closing concert in Toronto. Normani and Social House will be the opening acts on each stop.

Other Florida stops on the tour are May 28 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa and May 29 at the Amway Center in Orlando.

The 25-year-old Grande continues to be one of the most buzzed-about performers in pop music both as a singer, with nine Top 10 singles, and tabloid target, thanks to her off-again romance with comedian Pete Davidson and the death this year of ex-boyfriend and rapper Mac Miller.

Grande's single “Thank U, Next” tops the newest Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Dec. 15), its fourth week at No. 1. The song hit 93.8 million U.S. streams in the week ending Dec. 6, the biggest weekly total ever for a song by a female artist, according to Billboard, citing Nielsen Music.

The former Nickelodeon TV star (“Victorious,” “Sam & Cat”) earlier this year was included on Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list, where she was hailed for her “extraordinary, versatile, limitless instrument.”

Her album “Sweetener” (Republic Records) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart when it was released in August. Its other inescapable Top 10 singles include “No Tears Left To Cry" and "God Is a Woman.”
