Ticket alert: Bob Seger's final tour at BB&T Center

Classic-rock icons Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band will perform at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on March 17, one of a handful of dates just added to the Roll Me Away Tour, which Seger has said will be his final tour.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at BobSeger.com.

Fan club members will have presale access to tickets beginning on Dec. 11. For more information visit BulletClub.BobSeger.com.

It’s been 50 years since Seger hit the charts with his first hit, “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” which established the Detroit native as a Midwestern working-class hero plying his trade in the space that Bruce Springsteen soon would dominate.

While he can deliver arena-shaking anthems such as “Old Time Rock & Roll,” “Hollywood Nights,” “Horizontal Bop,” “Her Strut” and “Shakedown” (from the “Beverly Hills II” soundtrack and his lone No. 1 hit), Seger produced some of his most durable music in the role of poet and romantic.

“Main Street,” “Night Moves,” “Still the Same” and “Against the Wind” reverberate with a profound personal sentimentality that contrasts with their karaoke-friendly accessibility. And then there are the outright love songs, including “We’ve Got Tonight,” “Even Now” and “You’ll Accomp’ny Me.”

The Roll Me Away Tour kicked off Nov. 21 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and the first of 22 shows are sold out. The tour also includes a stop at the Amalie Arena in Tampa on March 15.
