Is Fort Lauderdale’s Tortuga Music Festival already one of the 300 best festivals in the world? The experts at Fest300 are trying to figure it out, with your help.
The cultural website has compiled a list of 270 favorite festivals from around the globe that they feel good about, including Coachella, Glastonbury, Burning Man, Oktoberfest and the massive Hindu gathering Kumbh Mela. Also on the list: Ultra Music Fest, Calle Ocho and Art Basel in Miami, and Fantasy Fest in Key West.
But, as the name suggests, they need 30 more events, and are gathering online votes for 64 nominees, including Tortuga and the Holy Ship cruise and Jam Cruise from Miami, which are competing with the likes of the Joshua Tree Music Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and the North Sea Jazz Fest. As this is being posted, Tortuga is languishing in 41st place, but just 42 votes out of the top 30.
More than civic pride should encourage you to take part in the balloting: One random voter will receive two tickets to the festival of their choice.
Voting continues through Dec. 5 at Fest300.com.
