Big stars, big changes coming to Hard Rock concert venue


Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 800-937-0010, continues to attract baby boomers and Gen Xers with big entertainers from their generations.

Future concerts include Huey Lewis and the News (“The Heart of Rock and Roll”; $40-$95) April 20, the Gipsy Kings (“Bamboleo”; $53-$73) May 5 and Kenny Loggins (“Danger Zone”; $45-$85) May 15.

In July, KC and the Sunshine Band (“Shake Your Booty”), Steve Miller Band (“Take the Money and Run”) with Peter Frampton (“Baby, I Love Your Way”), Rod Stewart (“Da Ya Think I’m Sexy”) with Cyndi Lauper (“Girls Just Want To Have Fun”) and Britney Spears (“Oops! … I Did It Again”) will perform.

Standup acts include comedians John Mulaney April 21 ($40-$70), Dane Cook May 12 ($55-125) and George Lopez May 26 ($50-$90).

Hard Rock Live, the concert hall, will be demolished this month as part of major renovations on the property. It’s been temporarily replaced by Hard Rock Event Center, a 3,500-seat venue whose first show will be this Saturday, March 10. The Tenderloins, the comedy troupe that created truTV’s “Impractical Jokers” ($50-$95), will perform.

Next year, a 6,500-seat venue will debut at the Hard Rock Live area.


No one has won the 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000,, which totaled $2,483,855 for Wednesday, March 7. That’s an increase of more than $600,000 over last Wednesday’s pick-6.

The jackpot was last hit on Jan. 28, when a record $19.8 million pool was split among several winning tickets worth $15,566. To win, you have to guess the first-place finishers in the card’s final six races.


John J. Brunetti Sr., who in 1977 bought what today is called Hialeah Park Racing and Casino (100 E. 32nd St., 305-885-8000,, died on March 2. He was 87. A memorial service will take place 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the clubhouse.

On March 3, with a bet of $4.40, a slots player won a $93,000 jackpot on Tree of Wealth in the high-limit area at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, slot operations manager Lisa Siples tells me. The winner was a night owl who got lucky at about 3 a.m.
