The vintage field house at the Delray Beach Center for the Arts will be transformed into an orchid lover’s paradise for the Delray Beach Beach Orchid Society’s 29th annual show and sale.

Rare and unusual plants from South Florida vendors will be available for purchase during “Orchids on the Square,” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26-27 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 28. Entry is $5.

“It’s one of the most beautiful orchid shows in the area,” organizer Annette Jackson says. “We will have varieties that are good for South Florida, along with unusual and exotic orchids from the Philippines, Thailand and Costa Rica.”

The society also will sell plants, growing supplies, flower pots, and feature orchid displays, juried exhibits, raffles and more.

“Our growers are generous with their expertise so attendees can learn how to easily care for their acquisitions,” Jackson says.

Attendees also can enter to win “A Night on the Town” basket of goodies, which includes two tickets to the Crest Theater and dinner at a local restaurant.

“The sights and smells will be unbelievable. We transport people into a beautiful botanical garden filled with orchids,” Jackson says.

The society, which is celebrating its 44th anniversary, regularly meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month.

“Orchids on the Square” will take place Oct. 26-28 at the Delray Beach Center for the Arts at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave. Admission is $5. For more information and a $1-off coupon, call 561-573-2422 or go to DelrayBeachOrchidSociety.com.
