On Saturday, Feb. 24, Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000, MagicCityCasino.com) hosted the first concert in its expanded amphitheater, where capacity was increased from 2,000 to 4,000 guests. Smash Mouth and Spin Doctors headlined the Rock 2K Music Festival.
Spokeswoman Sandra Rodriguez says, “From the lush lawn seating where guests brought blankets and enjoyed the nearby food trucks and craft beer court, to the floor section directly across from the stage that offered the feel of a live club, to the seated ticket area with great views of the stage and neighboring city skyline, Magic City Casino’s updated amphitheater is taking its place among South Florida’s top spots for live music.”
Upcoming concerts in the amphitheater include Billy Ocean, Don Felder and Christopher Cross on Saturday, March 3 ($30-$125), and Peter Cetera, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Ambrosia on March 24 ($20-$125).
The casino’s Stage 305, which has capacity for about 850 guests, continues to host indoor concerts. Comic Paul Rodriguez will tell jokes there on March 17 ($30-$50).
