Free flowers and dining deals for Mother's Day at South Florida casinos

OK, moms, get ready to celebrate your day at local casinos.

On Sunday, May 13, Calder Casino (21001 NW 27th Ave., Miami Gardens, 305-625-1311, CalderCasino.com) will offer a Mother’s Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The cost, $29.99, includes an omelet station, a cold seafood bar, beef tenderloin and pasta. Plus unlimited mimosas and Bloody Marys. Reservations are accepted for parties of at least six.

The Casino at Dania Beach (301 E. Dania Beach Blvd., 954-920-1511, CasinoDaniaBeach.com) will serve a classic brunch for $25, which includes three mimosas. The first 200 moms receive free flowers.

Hialeah Park Racing and Casino (100 E. 32nd St., 305-885-8000, HialeahPark.com) is presenting a Mother’s Day buffet ($13.95 for adults; $8.95 for kids) in the Havana Cafe and on the Fountain Terrace. Each mom gets a complimentary Bloody Mary or mimosa, and all women get flowers. Kids are welcome on the Fountain Terrace.

The first 300 women to visit Palm Beach Kennel Club (1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-683-2222, PBKennelClub.com), starting at 11:30 a.m., will receive Hoffman’s chocolate-covered Oreos. Moms ordering an entree at Paddock Restaurant will get a free slice of chocolate cake.

All four eateries at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek, 954-977-6700, CasinoCoco.com) will honor moms on Sunday. The upscale NYY Steak will serve an $85 brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It includes a seafood station, pancake station, eggs station and station for crepes, bananas foster and other desserts. And there will be mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Many of the restaurants at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 800-937-0010, SeminoleHardRockHollywood.com) will have food specials on Sunday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for $89 ($45 for kids under 13), Kuro will serve a brunch that includes a raw bar and unlimited Veuve Clicquot champagne.

ODDS AND ENDS

The grand opening for the Backyard Casino, an outdoor extension with about 75 games and smoking at Calder Casino, will take place Saturday, May 19. I’ll share more details next week.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, GulfstreamPark.com) reached $1,006,359 for Thursday’s 10-race program. The pick-6 bet costs 20 cents.

LAUGH IN

Local casinos are booking more big-name comedians. Just announced was Bob Saget’s June 23 standup routine at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Tickets cost from $30 to $200.

Amy Schumer will tell jokes on Aug. 31 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Tickets, scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, start at $72 and go to $182.

But first up will be Marvin Dixon performing and emceeing his “50 Shades of Comedy: The Spring Edition” show on Saturday, May 19, at the Casino at Dania Beach. Also on stage will be comedians Jersey “The Haitian Sensation,” Shanie D and Kevin “Damn Fool” Simpson. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets from $20 to $50 are still available.
