The Riptide Music Festival returns to Fort Lauderdale Beach Park Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 2-3, with pop, rock and R&B acts aimed at the hearts and dancing soles of multiple generations. Day 1 highlights include Cage the Elephant (8:35-9-45 p.m.), Portugal. The Man (3:40-4:20 p.m.), Weezer (7:05-8:05 p.m.), Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness (5:50-6:35 p.m.), Iration (5:25-5:50 p.m.), Joywave (12:45-1:15 p.m.), Pvris (2:35-3:15 p.m.), Saint Motel (4:45-5:25 p.m.), Mondo Cozmo 11:50 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), Barns Courtney (4:20-4:45 p.m.), the Academic (3:15-3:40 p.m.) and the Heirs (2:10-2:35 p.m.), as well as popular South Florida acts Alex Di Leo (12:15-12:45 p.m.), Brother Sundance (1:15-1:40 p.m.) and Mike Mineo (11:30-11:50 a.m.). Day 2 highlights include Boys II Men (5:25-6:25 p.m.), KC and the Sunshine Band (7-8 p.m.), Lou Gramm of Foreigner (4:10-4:55 p.m.), Morris Day and the Time (3:05-3:40 p.m.), Salt ‘N’ Pepa (1-1:35 p.m.), Loverboy (2-2:35 p.m.), Tito Puente Jr. (6:25-7 p.m.), Lee Tiger (1:35-2 p.m.), Shannon (4:55-5:25 p.m.) , Lime (3:40-4:10 p.m.) and Miami classic rockers Mr. Nice Guy (2:35-3:05 p.m.). Single-day, general-admission tickets cost $70, with two-day passes $110. VIP tickets cost $350 per day (two-day VIP passes are sold-out), and there are a limited number of cabanas remaining, with VIP accommodations for 10 people for $4,950. Kids 2 and younger are free.
Roads will remain open around the festival site at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, 1100 Seabreeze Blvd. There is free parking at the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Boulevard with round-trip shuttle service. Shuttle tickets, available online only, are sold-out on Saturday, with a limited number available on Sunday for $15. Two-day shuttle passes also are sold-out. No boats will be allowed to anchor off the festival site.
What to bring
Riptide visitors are encouraged to bring, blankets, beach towels and low-rise beach chairs, which must be set up in a designated chair zone. Also on the list of acceptable items are personal cameras, GoPro cameras, small backpacks and purses (12 inches square) and one sealed water bottle up to 2 liters per person.
What not to bring
Among the banned items are coolers and picnic baskets (and any outside food or alcohol), tents, umbrellas, animals, inflatables (the beach will be inaccessible), strollers and wagons, selfie sticks, professional recording devices, drones, kites, large signs or flags.
