Beyonce to kick off 'Formation' world tour in Miami

Beyonce to open 2016 #Formation World Tour at Marlins Park.

Beyonce will begin her first solo stadium tour April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami. The singer revealed plans for the 40-date Formation World Tour in a quick TV spot at the conclusion of her halftime performance at Super Bowl 50 Sunday night. The subsequent traffic crashed her website, Beyonce.com.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at LiveNation.com, with presales (fan club and American Express card holders) beginning Tuesday, Feb. 9. Tickets will cost $40-$300.

The tour is the first since she and husband Jay-Z opened their 2014 co-headlining On the Run summer tour at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. Beyonce’s 2013 Mrs. Carter Tour sold out two South Florida shows, at the BB&T Center in Sunrise and Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.

The Formation tour takes its name from the powerful new song Beyonce released on Saturday, a sassy and explicit expression of pride in her family’s roots in Alabama and Louisiana, with striking allusions to police violence and Hurricane Katrina.

Beyonce performed the song during the halftime show accompanied by a platoon of female dancers in Black Panthers-style berets, a powerful balance to the otherwise unremarkable-for-the-Super-Bowl showbiz of Coldplay and Bruno Mars.

The release of “Formation” came nearly a week after Coldplay put out the single “Hymn for the Weekend,” with a Bollywood-inspired video that stars Beyonce.

The Holi-themed video offers the singer at her most exotically ravishing, a perfect antidote to any ideas Buzzfeed might have had Sunday night to repeat their infamous 2013 Super Bowl halftime package titled “The 'Unflattering' Photos Beyonce's Publicist Doesn't Want You To See."
