South Florida might not get snow for the holiday season, but it has plenty of lights, and the region’s warm weather allows people to walk and drive through the light shows in comfort.
Here are the biggest and brightest displays this year:
Santa’s Enchanted Forest, Nov. 1-Jan. 6
Although Santa’s Enchanted Forest is known as a theme park with over 100 rides, shows and games, it also has millions of lights and holiday displays lining the entrance path and, according to its website, South Florida’s tallest Christmas tree. $29.50-$38.50. Lights 4 Hope Holiday Light Show, Nov. 16-Jan. 6
This inaugural show is a one-mile drive-through light display with holiday music that streams through your car radio at Okeeheelee Park, 7715 Forest Hill Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Tickets are $12 per car (up to 8 people). The show is open 6-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. lights4hope.org
28th Annual Winter Wonderland, Nov. 17-Dec. 30.
Hoffman’s Chocolates’ free Winter Wonderland features more than 125,000 lights, holiday displays, a 12-foot Christmas tree, fountains, an Arctic zone with lighted polar bears and penguins, a nativity scene, a Hanukkah display and entertainment nightly during the holiday season. The Panthers in Palm Beach Ice Skating Rink will also be open, and a new attraction, Santa’s Village presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, allows families to meet and have their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. This spectacular drive-through holiday lighting event features three miles of animated holiday displays and illuminated trees, including new creations by Brandano Displays. NightGarden, Nov. 23-Jan. 6
This immersive display includes glowing neon lights, talking trees and illuminated mazes across 23 acres, an installation with 1 million orchids and illusions of 10,000 butterflies. Zoo Lights Miami, Nov. 23-Dec. 29
The 750-acre Zoo Miami opens at night during the holiday season with music and 1 million bright, animal-shaped lights and tree lights. Free Snowman's River boat rides included with admission. Guests can also take photos with Santa, buy hot chocolate and cookies and shop in the gift shop. Open 7-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays with special themes each week, such as PJs Night, Superhero Night, Ugly Sweater Night and more. $15.95 for ages 3 and up. Garden of Lights, Nov. 24-Dec. 30
See thousands of holiday lights throughout 15 different garden areas at Mounts Botanical Garden. Trees will be wrapped with lights and dripping icicle luminaries from branches, plus see a field of giant luminescent spheres, butterflies, arches, holiday trains, candle-lit Menorahs and more. Holiday Lights Cruise, Dec. 1-23
Enjoy the holiday lights along the Intracoastal Waterway from the Water Taxi with two 90-minute cruises nightly at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., departing from Stop 1, 335 SE Sixth Ave. between Cheesecake Factory and Stranahan House on Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
