This giant beer festival will offer 500 brews this weekend in Miami

Flooding woes once washed Grovetoberfest away, but the massive beer festival is back in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park this weekend.

The craft-beer bash returns to its longtime home on Saturday, Oct. 13, after two consecutive years of king tides and heavy rainfall forced event organizer Swarm to move Grovetoberfest to nearby Regatta Park and Virginia Key.

The 8-year-old festival will come bearing 500 ales and lagers from 80-plus breweries across South Florida, along with DJs, food vendors, 8-bit video games and unlimited beer samples. Here’s what else is brewing at Grovetoberfest.

Parking sounds rough. Where is it?

Grovetoberfest, by far South Florida’s biggest beer festival for its depth of local and national brews (and PBR, if that does it for you), pours enough suds for 15,000 drinkers. Uber and Lyft are smart bets, and so is hopping the Miami Trolley to Peacock Park from the Coconut Grove Metrorail station. If you must park, seek out the Yacht Harbor Lot (2984 Grand Ave.), Garage at Sonesta Coconut Grove (2889 McFarlane Road) or St. Stephen’s Lot (2980 McFarlane Road).

Who’s pouring this year?

Just about every South Florida brewery is on the lineup, including the heavyweights (Funky Buddha, J. Wakefield, Due South) and smaller outfits (Boynton Beach’s Devour, Pompano Beach’s Bangin’ Banjo). Big Beer brands are represented by Terrapin, Guinness, Lagunitas, New Belgium and others.

Is it expensive?

Not really. Although general-admission passes cost $35 in advance via Eventbrite, another four bucks will buy you the $39 Beer Socialite Groupon ($74 at the gate), which includes a souvenir pint glass, tote bag and 3 p.m. early admission. (This is not to be confused with the $89 VIP package, which is sold out.)

Grovetoberfest will take place 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Peacock Park, 2820 McFarlane Road, in Coconut Grove. Admission is $35-$89. Call 305-461-2700 or go to Grovetoberfest.com.
