Beer lovers, rejoice: Riverside Market Cafe is one step closer to opening its third location after turning in its building plans to the city of Plantation.
If approved, Riverside Market can transform the Plantation site from a convenience store to a full-service restaurant, with a proper kitchen, draft beer serving area and seating.
"We wanted to make sure that we designed and built out this restaurant to make the citizens of Plantation happy, to take the best of Riverside Market original and Riverside Market South and combine it to make the best store out of all of them," says Riverside's operations manager, Lisa Siegel.
Following the success of the flagship gastropub, which opened near downtown Fort Lauderdale in 2008, a second location, Riverside Market South, opened just off Federal Highway near the airport almost a year ago. The third location will be in the "heart of old Plantation," as Siegel says, tucked away off Broward Boulevard in the neighborhood.
"I've always loved Plantation," Siegel says. "A lot of young families live [there] ... and it's just a few minutes west of us."
Siegel says she hopes the Plantation Riverside will open between four to six months after the building approval.
