Start your weekend on a high note, listening to live music and coolly drinking cocktails before the night heats up at Stache.
The 1920s-themed drinking den in downtown Fort Lauderdale offers happy hour on Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. Sit at the bar, or any of the cozy loveseats, while enjoying 40 percent off almost everything. The deal includes beers and bubblies, and drinks like rum and coke or vodka-sodas. Only specialty cocktails are excluded from the happy-hour special.
Even though specialty cocktails are not discounted, they're worth trying since the bartenders take their time crafting each one. Libations include the White Knuckles, made with Casamigos Reposado tequila, lime juice, agave, cilantro and Fresno pepper, or the Next Muvment, with Three Olives Vodka, lime juice, blackberries, sage and simple syrup. Specialty cocktails range between $12 to $14.
While Stache briefly introduced a bar bites menu at the end of last year, it's no longer available.
Once happy hour ends, the dance floor starts to fill up, the music gets louder, usually with a DJ, and the crowd gets a little rowdier. Stache is a great place to start a Friday happy hour, but beware: it's also a place you may never leave.
Happy hour: 5-9 p.m., Fridays
Recommended drink: Bad Habit ($12), with Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum, lime juice, simple syrup, cherry-berry jam and a sweet syrup called Velvet Falernum
