I Heart Mac & Cheese
This fast-casual eatery, which debuted in Fort Lauderdale in 2016, has expanded with two locations.
“We changed recipes based on customers’ feedback and went from giant ceramic bowls to our eco-friendly paper bowls,” says head chef Michael Blum, who has boosted macaroni and cheese to an entree from a side dish. “We now offer two sizes, which was a game changer.”
Customers customize their mac and cheese (starting at $7.95) or grilled cheese sandwiches (starting at $9.95) in assembly-line fashion from a variety of bread and pastas, including gluten-free; vegetables; seven cheeses and seven proteins, such as short rib or pulled pork.
Signatures ($7.95, $9.95) include lobster and white truffle with Muenster and scallions and the Cuban with mojo pulled pork, ham, Gruyere cheese and dill pickles.
New desserts include frozen cheesecake pops dipped in a choice of sauce ($2.45).
Lunch and dinner are served daily amid light-wood accents and red walls.
“A staple to all stores and the biggest hit for selfies and other social media pictures is the custom-made I Heart Mac & Cheese wallpaper,” Blum says.
Up next: a fourth location in University Place in Coral Springs by the spring.
